Replaceable fingertips and gripper pads

Make the part that touches the world the part you replace. We design fingertip covers and gripper pads around your finger or jaw, with a mounting concept that lets them be swapped.

Replaceable fingertips & gripper pads

Samples, custom geometry, mounting and replacement concepts.

The render shows the idea, not a product drawing. The structural drawing below separates what NEWMAT supplies (cyan) from the customer’s structure (grey).

  • NEWMAT materials & parts
  • Customer structure (sensors, electronics, frame)

1Problems this addresses

  • Fingertips or pads wear out and take sensors or structure down with them
  • Grip changes with object, surface or contamination
  • Replacement takes too long or needs re-calibration
  • Off-the-shelf pads do not fit your geometry

2What we deliver

Samples
Fingertip covers or pads for evaluation on your hardware.
Custom geometry
Shape, thickness and surface adapted to your finger or jaw.
Mounting & replacement concept
How the part locates, holds and comes off—and what stays in place.

Each project agrees the specifications, test reports and integration information that come with the deliverables.

3What we need from you

  • Finger or jaw model or key dimensions (a sketch is enough to start)
  • Whether sensors sit under the contact part
  • Objects handled, typical grip forces and surfaces
  • Required replacement interval or method, if known
  • Environment: oil, water, dust, temperature, cleaning

For a first conversation a written description is enough. No CAD or confidential files needed.

4How we validate

Test items we can discuss. Conditions, methods and pass criteria are set with you for each project; we do not quote general performance figures.

  • Fit and retention on your structure
  • Grip and friction on your objects
  • Wear under cycles and loads you specify
  • Replacement procedure and repeatability
  • Effect on sensor signal when sensors sit underneath

5Current stage

Current stageSample evaluation

Samples are available for evaluation. Geometry and material are adapted per project, so a sample is a starting point for your evaluation, not a finished catalogue part.

Designed as a consumable

  1. Initial fit
  2. Continuous operation
  3. Inspection & maintenance

Covers are replaced according to contamination, wear and change in performance, so the finger or jaw underneath keeps working. We are also exploring an automatic change station that links the consumable to pick-up, opening, donning and removal. The working principle has been demonstrated; equipment development and testing on real robots are still ahead, so it is not offered as a product.

Food service: in-store ice-cream making

Needs: stable grasping · hygienic protection · easy-to-change contact surfaces

This scenario illustrates needs that appear once robots work in real environments. It is not a NEWMAT customer project; the image is an AI illustration, not photos of a real robot or site.
